At CLEbaby, our mission is to provide exceptional, personalized postpartum care to every family we support. As demand for our services continues to grow, we want to be transparent about how our postpartum doula scheduling works so that expectations are clear from the beginning, and to help avoid confusion or disappointment down the line.
The most important thing to know is this: clients who book first are served first.
Booking your postpartum support with CLEbaby means signing your contract and submitting your deposit or payment. Once those two steps are complete, your hours are locked in on our calendar, and we guarantee that the doula you've selected (or been matched with) will be available for your care. Until that happens, however, we cannot reserve time.
We understand that many families want to take time to think things over, speak with a partner, or explore other options. That’s completely okay and even encouraged. But during that decision-making period, we cannot hold a doula’s time. We’ve learned through years of experience that this is the only way to protect both our doulas' schedules and our clients’ expectations.
Here’s why: our doulas have limited availability, and their calendars fill quickly. When we reserve time for a family, we are turning away other potential bookings during those hours. If a family ultimately decides not to move forward after weeks of deliberation, our doulas are left with unfilled gaps that could have been committed to another client. In order to build sustainable careers for our amazing team, we must place value on guaranteed income and confirmed contracts.
Our scheduling process is like assembling a puzzle. We carefully line up clients so that everyone receives the highest level of care with minimal overlap. Or, if there is overlap, that the scheduling priorities for multiple families don’t clash. Our goal is always to overdeliver, and that’s only possible with thoughtful scheduling and firm boundaries around availability.
For those seeking a la carte hours (under 50 total hours), we offer a postpartum waitlist. This ensures that if a doula has additional space in her schedule, we can offer you support without overcommitting our team. While we can’t guarantee availability through the waitlist, it’s a great option for families who aren’t sure how much help they’ll need or who want more flexibility.
We know that navigating the postpartum period is emotional, overwhelming, and filled with unknowns.
